Permanent Makeup Aftercare: The First 30 Days
By Rebornurself, Chennai · Updated

How your skin heals decides how your brows or lips look for the next few years. This guide covers what to expect and what to avoid in the first month after microblading, powder brows, combination brows, lip blushing or lip neutralization. Always follow the written aftercare we give you on the day, as it is matched to your treatment and skin.
Day 1
- Blot, do not rub: Gently wipe away any fluid with clean cotton and water, as we show you after the procedure.
- Expect it to look dark: Colour looks darker and sharper than the final result. This is normal.
- Lips: Lips may feel swollen. Drink through a straw and avoid hot, very spicy or salty food.
Days 2–10
- Apply a thin layer of balm: Use the aftercare balm we give you, only as often as advised. Too much can blur the result.
- Let flakes fall off naturally: Light flaking is normal for about a week. Picking it pulls pigment out and leaves patches.
- Keep it dry: Skip the gym, swimming, sauna, steam and long hot showers for about 10 days.
- No makeup on the area: Keep makeup, creams and facial treatments away until the skin has healed.
- Sleep on your back: If you can, avoid pressing the treated area into the pillow for the first few nights.
Weeks 2–4
Once the flakes are gone, the colour can look much lighter or patchy. This stage worries many clients, but it is part of healing: the colour comes back gradually as the skin settles. Skin needs about a month to heal fully, so do not judge the result before then.
Long-Term Care
- Sun protection: Daily sun is the biggest cause of early fading. Use sunscreen on brows and an SPF lip balm once healed.
- Skincare: Retinol, acids and exfoliating products fade pigment faster. Keep them away from your brows.
- Medical treatments: Tell your doctor or skin clinic about your permanent makeup before laser treatments or MRI scans.
Your Touch-Up
Book your touch-up any time between 30 and 90 days after your first session. Every skin heals differently; at the touch-up we fill any patches and adjust definition and depth to how your skin healed.
