How to Prepare for Your Microblading Appointment
By Rebornurself, Chennai · Updated

A little preparation helps your skin take pigment evenly and makes the appointment more comfortable. This guide applies to microblading and other brow treatments, and most of it to lip treatments too. If anything here applies to you, mention it at your WhatsApp consultation so we can plan around it.
Tell Us First
Some situations mean it is better to wait or to check with your doctor before treatment. Let us know if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Take blood thinners, or have a bleeding or clotting condition.
- Are taking or have recently taken isotretinoin (for acne).
- Have diabetes, a skin condition on the area, or a history of keloid scarring.
- Get cold sores, if you are booking a lip treatment.
- Have an old brow or lip tattoo, or have had permanent makeup elsewhere.
In the Two Weeks Before
- Pause retinol and acids on the area: These thin the skin and can affect how pigment heals.
- Avoid sunburn and tanning: Sunburnt or peeling skin cannot be treated.
- Skip facials and peels near the area: Give the skin time to settle before treatment.
- Let your brows grow: Avoid threading, waxing or tinting for about a week, so we can see your natural brow shape.
The Day Before and On the Day
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours: It can increase bleeding, which pushes pigment out.
- Go easy on caffeine: Too much can make you more sensitive and increase bleeding.
- Come with a clean face: No makeup on the brows or lips.
- Bring photos: Pictures of brows or lip colours you like help us agree on the shape and shade.
- Plan around the first week: Brows and lips look darker for the first few days. Avoid booking right before an important event; for weddings, allow at least 6–8 weeks.
What Happens at the Appointment
We start with an in-person consultation, then apply numbing cream for about 20 minutes. Your brows or lips are mapped and drawn on, and nothing begins until you approve the shape. The treatment itself takes about an hour, and we go through aftercare with you before you leave.
